Job Summary
Per diem hourly rate speech-language pathologist, University of Utah Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic starting July 1, 2026 or when filled. Responsible for providing direct patient care as needed in the University of Utah Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. The University of Utah Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic is a national leader in educational and community-based practice, and it is currently in an expansion phase with significant growth occurring in the past five years.
Salary: This is not a salaried position. Hourly rate compensation will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

This is a sedentary position in an office setting that may exert up to 10 pounds and may lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This position involves sitting most of the time and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Responsibilities
A. Clinical Duties/Responsibilities:1. Provide direct clinical services (in-person and telehealth) in the U of U Speech-Language-Hearing clinic. The primary service will be gender-affirming voice training, but other clinical domains may be covered.2. Coordinate with Clinic Director of Education and clinic staff to complete documentation required for third-party billing and adhere to required deadlines.3. Assist the Clinic Director in development and scheduling of assigned clinical caseload.4. Maintain compliance with departmental policies and ASHA requirements regarding required minimum standards for graduate student training.5. Collaborate with graduate and undergraduate students who may observe clinical sessions.6. Attend continuing education activities to maintain ASHA CCC and Utah Statelicensure CEU requirements.7. Other duties or activities assigned by the Clinic Director and/or Department Chair.Typical per diem SLP responsibilities :
Evaluates patients' abilities and limitations. Establishes treatment goals based on the evaluation and reason for the referral and team interaction. Administers therapy according to the established plan, utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment and techniques within the scope of practice of Speech-Language Pathology. Educates the patient and caregiver about the goals of the program, methods of accomplishing goals, how to perform the home program, and injury prevention. Recommends adaptive equipment and completes the equipment justification forms. Re-evaluates patients, assesses their progress and makes recommendations regarding discharge. Provides documentation of patient care according to established criteria. Participates in continuous quality improvement projects. Assists with departmental maintenance and supplies.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Ability to provide evaluation and/or treatment for speech, language, and swallowing and/or cognitive disorders and develop and implement treatment plans. Ability to provide work direction to aides, volunteers and students; identify program needs; develop new areas of activity; and respond to emergency situations. Knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development. Ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
Current licensure to practice as a Speech Pathologist in the State of Utah.
Preferred
Experience in the following areas; dysphagia, stroke, head trauma, diffuse brain pathology, neurologic diseases and disorders, developmental language delay, dysfluency, voice pathology, motor speech disorders, cognitive disorders or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
Preferences
1. Master's Degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology.2. Licensure to practice as a speech language pathologist in the state of Utah by the position start date.3. At least 1 year of licensed clinical experience beyond completion of the Clinical Fellowship.4. Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with all ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, sexual and gender orientations and treat everyone with respect and dignity.
5. Experience in the following areas with adult populations; dysphagia, stroke, head trauma, neurologic diseases and disorders, voice pathology, gender affirming care, motor speech disorders, cognitive disorders.
