This role at Utah Valley University offers an exciting opportunity to combine data expertise, technology, and student success initiatives in a meaningful way. Working under the guidance of the Associate Vice President of Student Services, you will serve as the primary administrator for the EAB Navigate platform, supporting institution-wide efforts to enhance student outcomes. In this role, you will ensure secure and effective use of data, maintain system functionality, and collaborate with campus partners and the vendor to implement updates and enhancements that directly impact student support strategies.
You will also work closely with teams across Institutional Effectiveness, IT, Enrollment Management, and Student Affairs to validate data, develop insightful reports and dashboards, and translate complex analyses into actionable strategies. By supporting outreach, intervention efforts, and guiding stakeholders in the effective use of student success data and tools, you will play a critical role in shaping data-informed decision-making and driving initiatives that foster student achievement. This position is ideal for someone passionate about analytics, technology, and making a tangible difference in higher education.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Project Leadership / Stakeholder Management Serve as the Navigate platform administrator, ensuring secure and effective data use, adapting to tool updates, troubleshooting issues, and acting as the primary liaison with UVU's EAB Navigate consultant.
- Coordinate with Student Affairs, Institutional Effectiveness, and Digital Transformation to validate and improve institutional data and reporting.
- Guide stakeholders in formulating data requests, interpreting metrics, and using tools for strategic decision-making.
- Lead and coordinate data-informed student success initiatives, collaborating with advisors, faculty, and student service teams to translate insights into actionable outreach campaigns that support retention and engagement.
- Advanced Data Analysis Collect, analyze, and interpret data from the Student Success Management System (SSMS) and other sources to identify trends, risk indicators, and opportunities for intervention.
- Conduct root cause analyses and present findings to guide strategic action.
- Build dashboards, visualizations, and reports to drive continuous improvement and track campaign effectiveness.
- Support institutional clients in developing communication campaigns and intervention strategies.
- Maintain expertise in Navigate platform functions and reporting capabilities, providing data and reports to inform student success strategies.
- Participate in committees to establish policies for Navigate usage and coordinate institutional strategies for student success.
- Consult with care units to develop student support initiatives and coordinate targeted interventions.
- Support care units in developing training processes for Navigate.
- Proactively promote strategies to enhance student outcomes.
Reporting and Tools Development Design and deploy reporting tools and templates for campus partners to monitor engagement, persistence, and success. - Ensure alignment with institutional data governance and contribute to enhancements in student success analytics.
Professional Development and Best Practices Stay current with trends in data analytics, visualization, predictive modeling, and data-informed outreach. - Engage in professional communities to advance institutional excellence in student support.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree and one year of related experience or any combination of education and experience totaling five years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with EAB Navigate or similar student success technology.
- Three or more years of project management experience in higher education.
- Proven ability to synthesize data from multiple systems, validate results, and communicate findings to diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated independence, collaboration, sound judgment, and confidentiality.
OR - Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience leading process improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with enterprise data systems (e.g., Banner, Slate, Degree Works).
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
- Student Success Management Systems (e.g., Navigate, Starfish, Salesforce Education Cloud) and their role in student retention and support.
- Higher education student support services, advising models, and retention strategies.
- Data governance practices, FERPA, and institutional policies related to data security and privacy.
- Principles and practices of data analysis, including trend analysis, root cause analysis, and predictive modeling.
- Business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar reporting and dashboard platforms.
- SQL and/or other query languages used for extracting and manipulating data.
- Designing and delivering clear, actionable data visualizations and reports for diverse stakeholders.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including advisors, faculty, institutional research, and IT professionals.
- Leading data-informed projects and coordinating outreach or engagement campaigns.
- Translating complex data into meaningful insights and strategic recommendations.
- Managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Effectively communicating data findings both orally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Interpret student success metrics to identify risk factors, trends, and opportunities for strategic intervention.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively in a collaborative team setting.
- Maintain high attention to detail while managing complex data sets.
- Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in handling sensitive student data.
- Stay current on best practices in student success analytics, data visualization, and data-informed decision-making.
- Adapt tools and approaches to meet the evolving needs of student affairs and institutional strategy.
