Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

College of DuPage seeks a full-time, tenure track faculty member to teach Speech Communication courses starting in August 2026.

The Speech Communication program provides professional level skills designed to prepare students to be successful in their academic career as well in almost all occupations. Students gain skills in group interaction strategies, poise and confidence in public speaking, productive techniques for conflict resolution, the artistic development of creativity and interactive approaches to corporate culture and public relations.

COD faculty are committed to facilitate and support student success in learning. We strive to meet the individual educational needs of our unique, multicultural campus.

The candidate will be committed to teaching in a multicultural environment and welcome the opportunity to work with students with diverse learning abilities. The candidate will have experience promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the classroom and department. In addition to demonstrating teaching excellence, we seek a candidate with an established record of or potential for forensics leadership, including program budget and resource management, co-curricular recruitment, and co-curricular program development. Experience coaching and traveling with a competitive intercollegiate forensics team preferred.

Program faculty are expected to teach a 15-hour load, hold weekly office hours, and participate in program and committee work.
We are actively seeking innovative, collaborative colleagues who regularly examine their pedagogy and practices in order to foster more equitable, accessible, and inclusive student learning.

Faculty duties include classroom instruction, assessment, curriculum development, advising students, professional inquiry, committee work and engaging with instructional technology.

Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats during days, evenings and weekends. Faculty positions may not be fully remote.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in the content area, or a Master's degree plus 18 semester hours of graduate level credit in the discipline of instruction required.
  • Teaching experience in Higher Education or Secondary Education required. Teaching experience in a community college preferred.
  • Preferred experience: experience coaching and directing intercollegiate speech and debate.

Foreign Transcripts: Transcripts issued outside the United States require a course-by-course analysis with an equivalency statement from a certified transcript evaluation service verifying the degree equivalency to that of an accredited institution within the USA.
