Job Summary
The Utah Museum of Fine Arts is located on the campus of the University of Utah and offers visitors the opportunity to explore over 5,000 years of human creativity with a collection of over 20,000 objects and art works from classic Greek and Roman antiquities to cutting-edge, contemporary art. Founded in 1914, the UMFA is the state of Utah's art museum, creating exhibitions and programs that serve a wide array of audiences. The UMFA is housed in the award-winning Marcia and John Price Museum Building. The Museum Store Clerk is responsible for delivering excellent customer service while welcoming guests to the store, maintaining displays, processing transactions accurately and demonstrate current Museum knowledge.
Responsibilities
Provides excellent customer service to Museum guestsa. Greet each guest with a friendly face and helpful attitudeb. Ability to multi-task and prioritizec. Accurately process store transactionsd. Answer phone calls professionallye. Complete cleaning and stocking duties while remaining aware of customer needsDemonstrates museum knowledgea. Responsible for general knowledge of Museum operationsb. Awareness of current exhibitions and programsc. Receives updates via email, reviews general calendar and responds to email correspondenced. Proficient in selling memberships and member benefitse. Assist customers with calendar, exhibition, program and event questions
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Customer Service Representative, I: Requires little to no related experience.
Preferences
A successful candidate possesses exceptional customer service skills, is a self-starter with a dedication to quality, presentation, and cleanliness. Reliability and dependability is a must.
Previous experience in retail or another customer driven environment.

Work Schedule Summary: This position is up to 19 hours per week and may require weekends and some evenings. Scheduling depends upon other staff members availability. Store hours of operation: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 10-5 and Wednesday 10-8
