Position Announcement
The Department of Psychology and Counseling at Utah Valley University invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) for our Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) Master's Program. We are a vibrant and growing 60-credit program that leads to eligibility for counseling licensure through the State of Utah. The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited institution, with knowledge of CACREP accreditation requirements. We seek a candidate who will also be able to teach at least two of the following courses: ACA Ethics, Multicultural Counseling, Group Counseling, Practicum, and Internship. A successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in pedagogy and instructional theories, with a strong ability to deliver instruction across multiple modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
We value educators who are effective in the classroom, employing innovative instructional strategies and techniques that enhance student engagement and learning. The ideal candidate will be adept at teaching key skills essential to psychology and demonstrate respect in all interactions with students. Additionally, candidates should have the ability to conduct research and disseminate it in presentations and publications. We especially value individuals who can mentor students and engage them in their work.

Other Requirements
PhD or equivalent in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited institution. The position is located in Utah and requires candidates to establish residency in Utah upon hire. We seek colleagues with a history of demonstrating respect for students and colleagues both inside and outside the classroom.

UVU's CMHC Master's Program is pursuing CACREP accreditation with a site visit scheduled for Fall 2025. The program serves approximately 80 full-time students from diverse backgrounds in a 2.5-year degree program. Faculty in the Psychology and Counseling Department foster a collaborative environment focused on mentoring students in scholarly activities. This position includes teaching (80%), research (10%), and service (10%) responsibilities.
UVU is a rapidly growing regional university of more than 40,000 students and is located in Orem, Utah-about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. UVU is also near Utah's emerging cluster of tech companies and start-ups, the Silicon Slopes, which include notable companies such as Adobe, Cisco, Facebook, and more. Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from a CACREP-accredited institution or equivalent with a terminal, earned degree in Counselor Education and Supervision. Knowledge and skill in current instructional strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of teaching excellence through student evaluations of teaching. Evidence of scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university.
Licenses or Certifications
A license as a CMHC in Utah or license eligible.
