Position Summary:
The Coordinator of Administrative Information Technology performs and supervises the operation and maintenance of a complex administrative computer-based system at a Community College where the work of administrators, faculty and staff is supported by computerized services. The administrative computing system includes assistance for such functions as student records, admission, financial aid, counseling and business office operation.

The College's information technology services are assisted by the centralized System Data Center which uses the Banner administrative system, requiring the Coordinator of Administrative Information Technology to utilize and adapt that system to the College's administrative computing services. The position may serve as the designated Banner system technical coordinator.

Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology or other administrator, the Coordinator of Administrative Information Technology is accountable for assuring the effective functioning of administrative computing services in support of the College's various administrative offices including Registrar, Admissions, Business and Finance, Counseling, Human Resources, Financial Aid and Student Services through effective performance in these essential areas:

  • Training, development and supervision of assigned staff.
    • Accountable for providing training and guidance to assigned staff and student workers to contribute to their proficiency in the skill areas necessary for their effective job performance.
  • Operation and maintenance of computer-based administrative systems.
    • Accountable for assuring the reliable operation of the College's administrative computing system, and when assigned, the messaging/email systems in support of college-wide administrative and student services.
  • Automation of administrative functions.
    • Accountable for analyzing and developing automated methods of performing administrative and student services work.
  • Training and guiding users in applying administrative systems.
    • Accountable for assisting user departments in use of administrative systems and when assigned help desk management.


In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in computer science or related technological discipline together with two (2) or more years of experience in computer system and software design, development and implementation; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position's essential duties.

Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following:

  • Computer hardware and software, local area networking, software design and development, and equipment assembly and installation.
  • Application of computer hardware and software systems in administrative services.
  • Installing, operating, adapting, diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in computer equipment and software, including complex software systems such as the Banner system.
  • Leading staff members in a technological and academic environment.


Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three (3) or more years of demonstratable experience with Cisco network equipment or CompTIA Network+ certification.
  • Three (3) or more years of demonstratable experience with Extron/Crestron A/V equipment and Extron/Crestron certifications.
  • Three (3) years of hands-on troubleshooting/repairs with Dell hardware and/or Dell technician or CompTIA A+ certifications.
  • Experience in the integration and support of IT Infrastructure Hardware & Software Systems in an educational environment.
  • Experience with supporting Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).
  • Experience with enterprise level application support.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar enterprise-level ticketing systems.


Starting Salary:
Minimum Salary Range; $68,623-$73,234 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. The salary will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications such as education and job-related experience, and internal equity.
