The position offers a dynamic and engaging work environment where no two days are the same-you may be developing recruitment strategies, creating impactful marketing materials, presenting at schools, coordinating workshops, or mentoring students. By combining outreach, relationship-building, and program development, you will help UVU attract and retain a diverse student body while contributing to the university's mission of accessible, inclusive, and high-quality education.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Provides recruitment counseling, planning, and advising to potential students. Assists students in the completion of their admissions application and provides instruction regarding applications for financial assistance.
- Participates in the development of student recruitment and retention plans, strategies, and written materials.
- Visits middle schools, high schools, and colleges and speaks to groups and/or individual students and serves as a liaison to those schools. Coordinates outreach activities with school counselors to promote university partnerships. Coordinates community workshops and retreats and arranges visits from prospective students and parents.
- Assists with maintaining recruiting records of prospective and current students and/or potential degree candidates.
- Creates and distributes resource materials for student recruitment programs. Develops mentorship programs and analyzes trends in recruitment and retention programs. Develops strategies for program evaluation.
- Prepares reports and proposals and responds to inquiries from students, parents and state and community agencies.
- Participates in the development of operating goals and objectives and recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations, as appropriate.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree, OR any combination of post high school education and experience totaling four years.
Availability Requirements:
This position requires evening and weekend hours, as well as occasional out-of-state travel.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
- Knowledge of student recruitment, admission and retention issues.
- Skills in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
- Skills in configuration and use of computerized database programs.
- Organizing and coordinating skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement short-and long-range goals.
- Ability to plan and evaluate programs.
- Ability to analyze course prerequisites, certification, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
