Summary of Responsibilities


  • Recruitment and maintenance of new community clinical sites and preceptors for the physician assistant students during the practical phase of the program by visiting clinical sites on a weekly basis and documenting information about the clinical site needed for approval for student placement.
  • Work with the Director of Clinical Education to identify optimal clinical placements for students based on interests and strengths by meeting annually with students to interview them about clinical interests and goals, with follow-up conversations scheduled throughout the year.
  • Assist with establishing the procedures for all students to get appropriate credentialing at each specific clinical education site before the start of the rotation through regular communication with the administrative staff of healthcare agencies and coordination, documentation, and submission of student credentialing information to each agency.
  • Perform initial and annual maintenance site evaluations that comply with ARC-PA standards through an initial visit to clinical sites to evaluate the physical facility for safety, educational capacity, and administrative oversight. These visits occur at each new site and then once a year thereafter. Maintain accurate electronic records documenting all communications with clinical sites and preceptors.
  • Coordinate events that are part of the clinical year education and include CME credit events for preceptors, white coat ceremony, and graduation.
  • Develop and maintain materials for preceptor orientation to UVU clinical year expectations through regular communication with marketing to update video and print training media as needed for clinical preceptor orientation.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree and two years of work experience related to the Summary of Duties, totaling four years.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding UVU graduate and UVU PA program clinical year education. Knowledge of the physician assistant profession.
  • Knowledge of ARC-PA accreditation standards as they pertain to the recruitment, retention, and placement of students in clinical education sites.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other tracking software used by the PA program clinical year team.
Skills
  • Possess effective interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making, and public relations skills.
  • Skilled in oral communication skills with the ability to speak to a wide variety of individuals about clinical education at the UVU PA Program.
  • Skilled in developing and delivering effective and persuasive presentations.
  • Skilled in the organization of data and information.
Abilities
  • Ability to recruit new clinical sites and maintain them throughout the year.
  • Ability to initiate and organize work related to the retention and recruitment of clinical year training sites. work on software suites used to organize and track clinical year activities.
  • Ability to work with students, faculty, staff, and administrators of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work and assist with program marketing strategies.
  • Ability to work with attention to detail, professional demeanor, including tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of students in the clinical year.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
