Job Summary
The proposed Center on Crime and Justice at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a data manager/statistical analyst to join a team conducting research and evaluation on various crime and justice issues in Colorado. Job responsibilities would be coordinated by a single team but split across three different projects:
- A randomized controlled trial impact and process evaluation of Functional Family Therapy-Gangs
- An impact and process evaluation of a focused deterrence strategy to reduce youth violence
- An effort to coordinate and determine the effectiveness of violence reduction efforts across multiple cities

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Data Management
- Import, export, integrate, merge and automate multi-level data from various sources for analysis.
- Oversee the quality and reliability of multiple data management systems.
- Ensure data protocols, human subjects research regulations and all relevant University policies are followed.
- Acquire, analyze, and synthesize data to support the investigators in making decisions.
- Perform other data management duties as assigned.
Data Analysis
- Clean, restructure, and preprocess data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
- Apply statistical methods (multilevel logistic or linear regression, mediation analyses) and data modeling techniques to interpret data and make predictions to reach causal inferences on programs evaluated with an experimental design.
- Conduct quasi-experimental analysis (differences-in-differences, regression discontinuity, instrumental variables, synthetic control, etc.) to reach causal inferences on policies, practices, and/or programs.
- Conduct social network analysis on linkages between nodes for the purposes of exploratory and explanatory analyses.
- Perform other data analysis duties as assigned.
Dissemination
- Contribute to planning, writing, and editing reports, manuscripts, and presentations to disseminate study findings.
- Perform other dissemination duties as assigned.
What We Can Offer
- The expected salary range for this position is $85,000.00 to $105,000.00.
- This is a 12-month, full-time position, with an expectation of two years of guaranteed funding.

What We Require
- Two to four years of experience working in the areas of criminal justice, statistics, evaluation, data analysis, or closely related field.
- A PhD in statistics/data science, criminology, criminal justice, economics, public policy, sociology, or closely related field.
- Ability to travel periodically to local research sites.
What You Will Need
- Experience designing and executing research projects.
- Knowledge of criminal justice and human service systems.
- Demonstrated background in advanced statistics and causal inference.
- Experience with data management and manipulation.
- Experience with spreadsheet, word processing, and data visualization applications.
- Experience with programs such as Stata, R, Python, or similar software and programming language.
- Experience with experimental and quasi-experimental research designs.
- Experience with social network analysis.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and organize large amounts of data.
- Ability to keep abreast of new tools and techniques.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
