Job Summary
The Tanner Dance LEADD Program is searching for talented and experienced educators for the midweek arts and education program for adults with disabilities. We are looking for teachers who are passionate about creating a positive, uplifting experience for the participants. An ideal candidate would be an educator who is knowledgeable in one or more of the following fields: literature, creative writing, science, dance, visual art, craft making, social studies, or drama. The ideal candidate would be a well-rounded teacher who would enjoy teaching in the most needed areas.
The LEADD Program (Learning and Engaging through Arts Discipline and Development) is Tanner Dance's arts and education program for adults with disabilities. The LEADD Program teaches valuable skills through dance, music, theater, and visual art, and incorporates lifelong learning through reading, creative writing, social studies, and science classes. The LEADD Program is designed to give adults with disabilities a place to learn and grow as individuals as well as express themselves as artists through multiple artistic mediums and genres. The LEADD Program participants will have the opportunity to perform and display their work in a year-end showcase.
Teachers in specific subject courses are responsible for delivering quality education to participants according to University of Utah Tanner Dance's standards. Teachers are responsible for communicating curriculum to administrative team, parents/guardians, and participants. Teachers will provide adequate accommodations and modifications for participants based on their individual needs. Teachers are responsible to communicate classroom needs for supplies, costumes, etc.
Responsibilities
- Plan and teach classes weekly.
- Help set up and take down the classroom space.
- Assist in additional classes throughout the day.
- Participate in occasional faculty meetings.
- Assist in planning and prepare students for the annual LEADD Showcase.
Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, emotional regulation, minimal physical support, responding to emergencies, assisting with snack time, and contribute to a safe learning environment. Comply with all Staff qualifications and requirements as direct support personnel."
Minimum Qualifications
Preferences
- Professional/work experience in education or special education.
- Strong and engaging instructor.
- A team player who is willing to collaborate with LEADD faculty, volunteers, and parents.

Work Schedule Summary: The LEADD program has four classes per week, from Monday through Thursday. Classes are three hours long, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. We are hoping to hire one person to cover them all, or hire mulitple people, if you can only work during one or two days of the week.
