Job Summary:
The University of San Francisco (USF) is searching for a term faculty member to join the School of Nursing and Health Professions in the Clinical Psychology PsyD Program.
The faculty position carries with it an expectation for excellence in teaching, scholarly productivity, and academic and professional service. Candidates with expertise and understanding of the depth of data needed for APA accreditation are encouraged to apply. We also welcome those whose area of scholarship adds to the breadth of the existing faculty's research areas.

The PsyD program is a five-year, year-round doctoral training program. The mission of the USF Clinical Psychology PsyD Program is to offer a rigorous program of study that emphasizes clinical and scholarly work with underserved populations and focuses on training culturally-responsive health service psychologists to work in interprofessional, integrated behavioral health settings. Graduates are proficient in the empirical and theoretical underpinnings of integrated, behavioral health interventions while sensitive to contextual, cultural, spiritual, and socioeconomic environments of individuals and communities. To advance the Mission of the University of San Francisco, the primary focus is to address disparities in the delivery of physical and mental health services to people who are underserved and marginalized. The PsyD program is committed to the recruitment and retention of diverse faculty, staff, and students. Faculty retention efforts include mentoring, scholarship focus, clinical opportunities, networking and professional development, and university-level initiatives.

The PsyD program admitted its first cohort of students in Fall 2013 and received its accreditation on contingency from the American Psychological Association, in Summer 2018. The program has submitted the self-study and has a site visit scheduled in Spring 2023 for reaffirmation of accreditation. Full Job Description:

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in teaching, continue in scholarship, and perform service that will contribute to the Program, the School of Nursing and Health Professions, the University and the profession. Appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level. Candidates must also be able to teach in a variety of core courses of the program (theory and didactic) and participate in dissertation committee work that includes the role of chair.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or related field, Psy.D. preferred
  • Licensed (or license eligible) Psychologist in California
  • Graduate from an APA-accredited program is preferred
