Job Summary

The Psychology Department at CU Boulder is accepting applications for a Temporary Operations and Faculty Affairs Advisor position. The advisor will work closely with the Department Chair and Manager of Curricular and Faculty Affairs to support the operational and administrative functions of the department. Who We Are

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience is composed of Faculty, Staff, Research Assistants, Graduate Students, and Undergraduate Students. Through teaching, learning, research, and community outreach, we seek to promote scholarship at the intersection of psychology and neuroscience. Driving this mission is a deep, shared dedication to improving the human condition for all people.
The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience is responsible for over 3,700 students in two undergraduate majors and five PhD programs. Our 52 faculty members teach and research topics that range from the molecular to the community level. Our work is spread across multiple campus locations (MUEN, IBG, WILD, & CINC), with an annual budget of $20 million, which includes approximately $12 million in grant-funded research and $600,000 in gift funds.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Advising departmental leadership on optimizing programmatic functions across faculty affairs, academic operations, communications, and graduate studies.
  • Consulting staff on coordination and operational workflows to support effective day-to-day management during the transition period.
  • Interpreting and applying university and departmental policies to ensure procedural continuity and compliance.
  • Providing institutional knowledge and contextual analysis to inform strategic planning, hiring decisions, and organizational development.
  • Guiding the implementation of faculty affairs processes, including recruitment strategies, review timelines, and personnel documentation standards.
  • Assisting with special projects as needed, offering flexible support to address emerging priorities and departmental goals.
  • Serving as a liaison and strategic representative for the department, offering continuity and professionalism throughout the transition.




What We Can Offer

The hourly range for this part-time position is $45-$50.

Benefits

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

What We Require

  • 6-10+ years of job-related experience providing high-level support in business operations
  • 6-10+ years of managerial experience in higher education
