The position could continue, based upon renewal of funding annually by the California Community College District's Office. Location San Diego City College Pay Information Range 4 ($7,016.86 - $11,429.72) per month based on the current Supervisory & Professional Administrators' Association. New employees will begin on step A $7,016.86. Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA. The hours are traditionally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs. Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor. Major Responsibilities
  • Serve as lead coordinator for equity-minded practices with a strength-based approach focused on students' housing security needs.
  • Organize, coordinate, participate in, and schedule orientations, workshops, and presentations for students, faculty, and classified professionals regarding housing security.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and provide staffing for outreach events, including Welcome Home City (WHC) workshops and tabling at on and off-campus events to increase program visibility and engagement.
  • Develop and coordinate intentional programs and events that uplift, validate, and celebrate the student experiences.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students who are facing homelessness and housing insecurity, assess program or service eligibility, and process referrals.
  • Provide technical assistance to students regarding basic needs (i.e. food and housing insecurity, emergency funding) and connect them to follow-up services, as well as maintain timely documentation in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Oversee all communication channels and platforms to better serve students and the general Campus and District communities.
  • Prepare physical and digital promotional materials and platforms to be shared with students, Campus, District, and larger communities during information sessions and workshops to explain housing security services.
  • Maintain a current directory of community resources available to students and the larger community through physical and online materials.
  • Monitor all aspects of the categorical and restricted budgets connected to housing security efforts, including gathering all documentation to complete payments on behalf of students and program in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a liaison and resource for Campus, District, Regional, and State communities on student success eorts and funding for housing security efforts.
  • In collaboration with the Basic Needs Coordinator, recruit, hire, train, and provide work direction to personnel supporting housing security and basic needs efforts.
  • Coordinate and manage collaborative efforts with community partners (i.e. Regional Task Force on Homelessness) to expand impact and increase program efficiency.
  • Develop tracking systems and collect student and services data through multiple touch points as well as analyze collected data to prepare reports and present them on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of ethical management of sensitive information under the guidelines of FERPA and HIPAA.
  • Collaborate with key Campus and District faculty, classified professionals, and administrators to develop and implement intentional housing security efforts.
  • Remain current and trained on standards and best practices, emerging strategies and interventions, and research at the local, state, federal, and international levels.
  • In collaboration with the Basic Needs Center team, identify and apply for funding opportunities that address homelessness/displacement, food insecurity, legal aid, financial literacy, childcare, transportation, and overall basic needs.
  • Interpret and disseminate College, District, and State policies, procedures, regulations, guidelines, and requirements regarding the higher education system and its impact on housing security.
  • Support in the maintenance and daily operations of the Basic Needs Center.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: Master's Degree in Education, Counseling, Public Administration, Business, or related field and three years of administrative experience in an educational organization or social program that services a similar population or program. The following are also required for this academic/educational administrator assignment:

1) One (1) year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's assignment, AND
2) Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.
OR
1) Two (2) years of recent management experience in an institution of higher education, AND
2) Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff. Desired Qualifications
  • Background in coordinating housing security or basic needs from a strength-based approach.
  • Understanding of supporting students lived experiences by emphasizing the intersection of social identities to validate their multiple identities and roles.
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, training, and providing work direction to part-time and full-time personnel.
