The University of Colorado Boulder is searching for s Behavioral Health Counselor I's who thrive in a fast-paced clinical setting! We have a full time position and a part time position available. The roles would join a team of mental health providers integrated in Wardenburg Health Center, the primary health care provider at CU Boulder. The Behavioral Health Team provides behavioral health services, collaborates and works directly with medical providers, nurses, medical assistants, and physical therapists, to improve students' health outcomes and wellbeing.These roles require flexibility, strong assessment and intervention skills, and the ability to respond effectively in the moment. Key responsibilities include clinical assessments, crisis intervention, supervision, consultations, brief therapy, advocacy, and care navigation. The roles provide the opportunity to deliver care within a Primary Care Behavioral Health model, improving access for all students and reducing barriers to services.CU Boulder CAPS is a training clinic, and the Behavioral Health Track is a focus area for our staff-in-training. As such, the positions provide secondary supervision to staff in training including Post-Master's Social Work Fellows and/or Psychology Interns. The positions may also provide primary supervision to staff in training including Post-Master's Social Work Fellows; Psychology Interns, Psychology Practicum Students and/or Psychology Post-Doc Fellows.These positions collaborate with other campus departments as needed for the treatment of CAPS students and ensures individual experiences, identities, and systemic factors are considered in all assessment, treatment referral, and training services provided.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Patient Facing Clinical Care, Supervision, and Consultation:
- Provide in the moment in person and/or telehealth assessment and intervention to patients being seen in the medical clinic who had a positive behavioral health screen, indicated mental health concerns in their appointment, or for whom their provider is concerned about mental health symptoms. Intervention and assessment are unique to each student.
- Provide in the moment supervision/precepting to behavioral health staff-in-training who are seeing patients.
- Provide consultation and support to medical staff from triage and specialty care teams at Wardenburg Health Center.
- Develop strengths-based treatment plans that are responsive to client goals, needs, and resources, and promote resiliency and engagement with formal mental health services and other supportive resources within the CU Boulder community and the wider Boulder/Metro community.
- Support student populations who are traditionally underserved by current systems to increase motivation for and reduce barriers to engaging in recommended mental health and other supportive services.
- Conduct skills workshops on behavioral health related topics.
- Provide triage and support to the Behavioral Health Team and CAPS as needed. This may include coverage and back up to other providers, supervision to staff in training, and CAPS services such as screening appointments/individual therapy/group therapy/workshops.
- Provide crisis consultation to providers within the medical clinic and CAPS in emergent situations, and for ongoing care of high acuity clients.
- Provide coordination of care between medical services and CAPS providers when urgent medical consult is needed to support patients presenting at CAPS.
- Collaborate with multiple 3rd party/collateral agencies, university departments, and members of student's community (family, friends, faculty, etc.) to assess crisis reports and recommend appropriate crisis responses.
- Track students who are contacted by first responders and/or transported to hospital/crisis units to provide collateral information for continuity of care and coordinate discharge aftercare.
- Develop collaborative working relationships with police, first responders, and local hospitals/crisis centers. Coordinate welfare checks and psychiatric holds when necessary.
- Coordinate referrals for resources internal and external to CU Boulder. Engage in collaboration, outreach & relationship building with community mental health resources and other CU Boulder departments to ensure exemplary care.
- Attend staff and team meetings.
- Provide behavioral health training for new CAPS staff and trainees.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Maintain Electronic Medical Record according to CAPS standards.
- Participate in committees as assigned.
What You Should Know
- We have 2 positions available: a full-time position and a part-time position that would work either 20 hours per week annually, or a 60/80 schedule during the academic and summer seasons within the work schedule outlined below.
- These positions will work in a hybrid work modality, with three days of in-person work on campus and up to two remote days available. Hours can be flexible between 8:00AM and 5:00PM Monday through Friday depending on team and clinic need.
- These roles are not expected to work University recognized holidays, weekends, or evenings.
What We Can Offer
The salary range for this position is dependent on years of independent licensure and years of experience:
- Master's degree: $68,250 - $84,477 annually.
- Doctorate degree: $77,700 - $96,174 annually.

What We Require
- Licensed mental health provider (Psychologist, LPC, LCSW, LMFT) in the State of Colorado by the day of hire. For psychologists: Completion of an APA accredited program and internship.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in mental health crisis work.
- Experience with a range of clinical issues, ranging from developmental issues to more serious psychopathology.
- Experience providing brief therapy.
- Experience with electronic medical record-keeping and documentation.
- Eligible for clinical privileges as determined by the Department's Credentialing and Privileging Department.
