Job Summary
The CU Book Store in Boulder welcomes applications for an Assistant Store Manager! This position functions as the Assistant Store Manager of the CU Book Store Limelight Hotel location. Responsibilities will include leading student employees and ensuring customer service standards are followed and point of sale (POS) accuracy is adhered to. They will function as the Manager on Duty as scheduled, which will include opening and closing the store. They will collaborate with the Store Manager and CU Book Store main campus team members as needed to ensure the store is merchandised for optimal sales, product is transferred as needed, and inventory accuracy is maintained. This is a 40-hour per week position with 100% time spent on-site. Workdays and hours will vary and include weekends and occasional holidays. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Merchandising, Restocking, and Inventory Control
- Maintain store layout and displays for optimal sales.
- Ensure ADA compliance is met throughout the store.
- Ensure the store is re-stocked as needed to ensure all products are displayed on the sales floor.
- Partner with the Store Manager and the Inventory control Manager on cycle counts and inventory issues.
- Partner with the Store Manager, the Buyers, and the Inventory Control Manager to ensure optimal reorder points and preferred stock levels are established and maintained to support accurate product replenishment and effective product placement.
- Analyze sales data to be informed of best-sellers and slow-sellers and request inventory transfers as needed.
- Partner with the Store Manager and Marketing team to ensure store signage is updated as needed.
- Acknowledge and greet all customers and provide assistance from product selection to checkout and ensure student employees are doing the same.
- Process purchases, refunds, and exchanges using the store's POS system, adhering to established cashiering procedures and guiding student employees to do the same.
- Support store operations by covering the cash register as needed.
- Assist student employees in resolving difficult customer interactions.
- Stay current on store events, policy updates, and standard processes to support efficient store operations.
- Report IT concerns immediately using provided communication channels.
- Contribute to the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of in-store customer engagement initiatives.
- Assist the Store Manager in training new employees in standard procedures and concepts.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of standard procedures to ensure accurate and effective training.
- Arrive before store opening to ensure sufficient staffing coverage.
- Ensure cash registers are prepared for the day.
- Identify and report any maintenance or security concerns promptly.
- Monitor student employee attendance and plan for employee absences.
- Ensure the sales floor is clean, organized, and shoppable prior to opening.
- Assist with cash accounting at end-of-day.
- Set security alarms at closing.
- Submit inventory requests needed for the next business day.
- Collaborate with Store Manager and Student Managers to coordinate ongoing staffing schedules and operational needs.
What You Should Know
- Valid driver's license required.
- Anticipated start date of September 1st.
What We Can Offer
- The salary range for this position is $40,000 - $45,000 per year.
