Job Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Accommodations (SASS), the Accommodations Case Manager focuses on supporting student success and holistic student wellness through providing early support and follow-up for complex situations involving students with established accommodations or seeking accommodations. The Accommodations Case Manager will monitor students and develop action plans to facilitate referrals to on and off-campus resources.

Supported by the Assistant Director for Accommodations, the Accommodations Case Manager will provide direct support to individuals with disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Conduct disability eligibility analyses, provide referrals, approve reasonable accommodations, and connect individuals with services to support their personal and/or academic goals. Educate campus constituencies regarding support for individuals with disabilities and facilitates compliance with the ADA/ADAAA and related federal, state, and local regulations and University policies. As needed, the Accommodations Case Manager will develop and lead programs, trainings, and workshops for faculty, staff, and students that support holistic student development and success.

Case Managers must be able to balance multiple student cases, sensitive data, confidential communications, engage in culturally sensitive dialogue with multiple stakeholders, and work with students in crisis in a timely and efficient manner.

Case Managers are focused on supporting students with the goal of increasing student success and retention. They will build collaborative internal and external relationships, work closely with Student Affairs and University leadership to connect students in need of resources and support.

The salary for this position is $54,575 (minimum) up to $58,916. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.   • Bachelors degree in Counseling, Education, Social Work, or related field.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in an education setting, including at least experience advising students or serving as a case manager. [Internship, volunteer, or related work that is commensurate is acceptable.]
  • Experience interpreting a variety of documentation and determining appropriate actions.
  • High level of cultural humility and experience working effectively with marginalized populations.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with Title IX support services.
  • Demonstrated experience with supporting students in crisis.
  • Experience developing, coordinating, and planning training.
  • Ability to learn to adapt approach in interpersonal communication based on disability specific needs.
  • Must be able to remain calm and think clearly and critically when interacting with highly demanding, crying, yelling, and are behaving irrationally.
  • Ongoing willingness to self-monitor own personal response to emotional stress and trauma permitting them to remain objective and effective in the role.
  • Familiarity with non-discrimination laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the needs of, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.

  • Masters degree in Counseling, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of theories and practices related to college student development.
  • Experience with assessment.
  • Proficiency in EAB Navigate, AIM and Maxient software platforms.
  • Direct experience working with college or young adult populations with mental health, learning, attentional, or chronic health conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience with disability/accommodation services.
  • Title IX advocate certification.
  • Mental Health Professional License.

Conditions of Employment:
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

All new employees must comply with EWU Immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
