Job Description:

School of Nursing at Madison College is seeking a Senior Nursing Lab Coordinator to join the team at our Watertown Campus.

The Senior Nursing Lab Coordinator at the Watertown campus is responsible for preparing, leading, and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the nursing skills and simulation environments. This role provides leadership for the Associate degree Nursing and Nursing Assistant programs at the Watertown campus and supports nursing skills and classes at the Truax campus. Collaborates with faculty and school leaders to guide the expansion and enhancement of lab capacities, standards, and services.

Senior Nursing Lab Coordinator provides technical leadership for faculty and students to ensuring the appropriate supplies, equipment, and software are available, prepared, and removed in accordance with current infection control standards. In addition, the Senior Nursing Lab Coordinator maintains expertise in real-world practical nursing skills to ensure that students have access to a hands-on learning environment and assists in operating complex technical equipment to support students in achieving their learning objectives. This position also manages the purchasing and lab supply budget and supports student clinical readiness by ensuring all health requirements are completed for successful clinical rotations.

The position reports to Associate Dean - Nursing.

This is a full-time, year-round position (52 weeks per year), with standard working hours from Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. However, maintaining a flexible work schedule is essential to accommodate changing class schedules and meet the needs of students.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Schedules, plans, and prepares, lab environment for individualized learning activities by student level, faculty preference, and content area(s) to be addressed.
  • Serves as a resource for student or faculty directed skills practice.; Reinforces faculty instruction to students; Maintains open lab hours on a weekly basis to support student success in the Nursing program.
  • Provides support for administrative and operational functions for the School of Nursing. Assists students with completing health requirements to attend clinical. Supports planning and attends campus Nursing/health events aligned with role and responsibility. Supports instructors in proctoring standardized exams as well as course exams.
  • Independently operates high and low fidelity skills and simulations mannequins and associated technologies. Tests equipment for functionality and maintenance concerns. Troubleshoots technical issues and resolves.
  • Trains faculty and students on lab technologies, equipment and policies and procedures of the skills lab and simulation environments.
  • Maintains purchasing process and ensures supply inventory within defined budget limits and acceptable par levels. Makes capital purchase recommendations.
  • Adapts, implements, and maintains current and stringent health, infection control and safety practices in the lab and simulation environments.
  • Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision, and values.
  • Other duties as defined by department, college, or officials.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
  • In depth and current knowledge of the principles and procedures related to nursing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the methods and procedures involved in direct patient care and the use of healthcare related computerized technologies.
  • Demonstrates advanced technical-mechanical abilities, proficient skill in keyboarding, and knowledge Microsoft Office suite of products.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Nursing
  • Three (3) years of work experience directly related to the skills required for successfully performing the duties of this position with Two (2) years direct patient care as a Registered Nurse.
  • CPR Certified & Registered Nurse license in the state of Wisconsin or able to obtain by date of employment.
