Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Saint Joseph's College of Maine invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

The Vice President for Institutional Advancement provides strategic and operational direction for the College's development functions including planned and major giving; corporate, foundation, and government support; annual giving; and alumni and constituent relations. The VPIA reports directly to and works closely with the College's President and is a member of the College's Leadership Team.

The next VPIA will build on the successes of the past decade during which the College raised approximately $20 million in support of student success, facility and program enhancements, and teaching, learning, and research initiatives. The VPIA will steward current external relationships with individuals and organizations, and be expected to increase them. The position will be comfortable with initiating and feeding strategic partnerships in Maine, the region, and nationally. The VPIA must have significant experience working with boards to grow philanthropy among members and in assisting them to engage others in their circles to support the College.

Applicants should have a minimum of ten years of experience in the advancement field and significant experience and documented success with traditional (major gifts) and contemporary (digital and/or recurring) fundraising and an increasingly complex donor demographic. They must also demonstrate experience and success in leading teams of staff in meeting and exceeding goals. Creativity, the ability to collaborate and think outside the box, as well as strong and persuasive speaking and writing skills are required, as is experience with current and emerging technologies and social media.

Founded in 1912 by the Sisters of Mercy, Saint Joseph's College is Maine's only Catholic college. We offer to our 2000 on-campus and online students a unique mix of undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree programs with a strong liberal arts foundation. Our beautiful 474-acre Sebago Lake campus in Standish, Maine is located 30 minutes northwest of Portland, ME, and 2 hours North of Boston, MA.
