Job Summary
The UM-Dearborn Office of Research is seeking a full time, self-motivated Administrative Coordinator to provide responsible and complex administrative support to the office. This position will report to the Interim Vice Provost for Research.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for carrying out a variety of tasks and projects in support of the UM-Dearborn Office of Research, and will work closely with the office of Research Administration and Research Development, as well as other institutional partners as appropriate. Primary responsibilities include managing and prioritizing complex administrative duties in support of the campus research environment. The position requires an individual who can work independently with minimal supervision and also work effectively as part of a team. This position is term-limited for 1 year of funding with the possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities*
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Perform a wide variety of administrative functions and routine office work to provide support to the Vice Provost for Research, and other leadership in the UM-Dearborn Research Office.
  • Coordinate various projects and associated programmatic components (e.g. meetings, event planning, use of facilities, services, or equipment) in a timely fashion
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and trainings for the purpose of providing, documenting or receiving information to prepare agendas, minutes, reports, memos and correspondence, and charts and graphs
  • Maintain manual and electronic documents, files, and records as needed, providing up-to-date information and historical reference in accordance with established guidelines
  • Assist with accounting and other basic fiscal activities: maintain and reconcile budgets, monitor account expenditures.
  • Enter data into computer systems including, but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Google sheets, and database applications
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of department operations

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of experience with general administrative functions, procedures, and broad office operations.
  • Proven ability to manage a varied workload with excellent attention to detail and to meet deadlines in a timely manner while demonstrating flexibility when priorities and deadlines change.
  • Capacity to exercise initiative, independent judgment, diplomacy, and confidentiality with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a cooperative team member with staff, other University offices and with outside constituents.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Strong computer technical skills and comfort with a variety of software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Suite, and database tools
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent attendance record

Desired Qualifications*
  • Master's degree
  • Previous project management experience
  • Prior experience working with faculty in a higher education academic department
  • Knowledge of current UM systems is highly desired
