Position Summary:
North Seattle College is seeking a part-time faculty member to teach in our Electronics Technology Department on a quarterly basis.

The Electronics Program at North includes a strong electronics core that students can use as a base for several educational options such as Avionics, Healthcare Technology Management, Mechatronics, and Industrial Power.

Note: As part of the interview process, you will be required to do a teaching demonstration of some basic technical principle or concept.

Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as in-class, hybrid, online and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs.

Essential Functions:
This part time position will teach both basic and advanced electronics classes with the current Electronics Program faculty. Class assignments may include day, evening, hybrid, and e-learning. First-time college students, retraining workers, as well as students with previous degrees comprise the electronics student body. It is expected that the instructor will teach and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.

Specific responsibilities should include:
  • Preparing and teaching classes in electronics, both basic and advanced.
  • Working effectively as part of a team, as well as independently.
  • Contribute to electronics student success by offering support of learning both in and out of the classroom.
  • Teach classes and perform other professional responsibilities as outlined in the AFT Seattle Local 1789 and the Seattle Community Colleges Board of Trustees Agreement http://aftseattle.wa.aft.org/files/article_assets/AB727ACF-A508-45E2-761F2394CCC70BEE.pdf


Required Education, Experience & Abilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent training in field related to electronics such as Industrial Arts or Electronics Technology.
  • 2 years of work experience in the field of electronics.
  • Industry training experience and/or teaching experience with a focus on assessment and student success.
  • Evidence of collaborative work within an organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and the ability to work effectively with populations of diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
  • Commitment to professional development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, using technology when appropriate
