Position Summary:
The Basic and Transitional Studies Division at North Seattle College is looking for innovative and dedicated faculty members to teach in our Adult Basic Education program for Fall Quarter 2018 (and possibly subsequent quarters). This position will be responsible for preparing and teaching ABE classes, which may include GED preparation, Adult High School Completion (High School 21+) and/or College-Preparation. Experience in pre-college Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, and/or Science, as well as other high school requirements desired. Teaching may include day, evening, or online/hybrid.

Successful candidates will have the ability to work effectively with a diverse population of adult learners from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds as they complete high school and transition into college-level pathways.

Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as in-class, hybrid, online and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs.

Essential Functions:


Required Education, Experience & Abilities:
  • Master's degree in Adult Education, Secondary Education, English, Math, Science, History or in a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to teach ABE/GED/HS 21+ or other pre-college/ developmental courses.
  • Working with adults, high school aged youth, and diverse at-risk populations in a community college, high school or university setting.
  • Innovative teaching methods including the use of technology and collaborative learning.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others in a professional setting.
