Office Assistant 2 - Logistics Operations (Part Time)

Job Summary/Basic Function:
Provide both physical and administrative support to the personnel in Logistics Operations.
  • Greet patrons who enter the department area, answer phones, make copies, and file documents when needed.
  • Update and maintain various spreadsheets.
  • Cross train to learn all basic functions within Logistics Operations, including receiving, mail services, printing services, surplus, and inventory.
  • Respond to inquiries from patrons regarding Logistics Operations procedures.
  • Apply and interpret policies and procedures in response to inquiries.
  • Make deliveries and pick ups, both on and off campus.
  • Using various equipment and software, assist with, and/or process all outgoing/incoming mail and packages.
  • Assist with campus surplus and inventory.
  • Receive and process shipments/merchandise when needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Sort and distribute mail and packages.
  • Other duties assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    High School diploma or GED, Associates degree preferred.
    Experience using Microsoft Office software, including Word, and Excel.
    Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Ability to sort alphabetically and numerically.
    Ability to count items accurately and perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
    Ability to use a computer and perform basic email, web search, word processing and spreadsheet functions on a computer.
    Possess a valid drivers license.
    Ability to follow directions.
    Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
    Strong attention to detail.
    Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college staff and students.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Customer service experience.
    Previous experience in shipping & receiving, warehouse, fork lift operation, surplus and/or inventory work preferred. Training provided for new hires who do not have experience in one or more of these areas.

    Physical Demands:
    Everett Community College follows the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and provides the following information as a guideline for applicants:
    Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while making deliveries or picking up various items and equipment across campus and at off-site locations, in all weather conditions.
    Ability to operate various warehouse, mail room and office equipment (training provided).
    Ability to read and verify data and prepare various materials.
    Ability to exchange information on the phone or in person.
    Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
    Ability to operate a fork lift and obtain fork lift operator certification (training provided).

    Work Hours: Part-time position scheduled for approximately 15 hours per week, mornings, Monday through Friday. Summer schedule is Monday through Thursday. Maximum 69 hours per month. Schedule to be determined based on department needs.
