Redlands Community College is seeking an Oklahoma Licensed Counselor (LPC or LCSW) to serve a diverse population of students with the goal of enhancing their personal and academic success and reducing barriers to that success. This is a full-time, federally funded, 12-month, professional staff position with excellent benefits. The Counselor will provide culturally responsive mental health triage, brief individual and group counseling, support groups, workshops, referral, consultation, outreach, and crisis services to students, with a particular focus on Native American students. This position is funded by the NASNTI (Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institution) grant, Part F (2021-2026).

Responsibilities include: Provide individual, group, and crisis on-call counseling and guidance to students to support them in making adjustments to college life and culture; provide crisis/triage assessment and response to students as needed; counsel students experiencing mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression and those who may have substance abuse issues, however, this position will not provide a diagnosis for the student and will not bill the Oklahoma Health Care Authority; counsel students who are having attendance, educational, personal, or behavioral problems; assist administration in developing strategies to improve student success and retention among at-risk students; assist instructors in providing specific supportive services to disadvantaged and/or special needs students and students in crisis; conduct small and large group workshops; resolve student questions or concerns regarding academic policy and procedures and refer to appropriate resources when necessary; assist students in planning their educational experience for successful transition to career/workforce; participate in and support learner success strategies, advocating for the needs of students' cultural differences and uniqueness; provide outreach to campus and tribal communities; provide education and training to students, faculty and staff as needed, with emphasis on student health issues for Native American and/or low-income students; participate in various training programs for professional development; remain knowledgeable of existing and pending state, tribal, Federal, and related policies; participate on Redlands Community College Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT); document student contacts in database within 24 hours of contact; follow case management procedures and maintain case files in accordance with college and HIPAA policy; engage in regular student contact and follow-up protocols; and maintain collaborative relationships with mental health and student support service providers.

Qualifications include: Master's degree in clinical/counseling psychology or social work, or related area; current Oklahoma Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); and adhere to Oklahoma licensure ethics, legal standards, and professional responsibilities.

Preferred experience includes: Experience working in higher education and with disadvantaged student populations including low-income populations, Native Americans, people with disabilities, and homeless individuals; and experience working in the community college environment.
