MESA Assistant (10-20 hrs/wk @ $15.65/hr; June 1-June 30, 2019)
Short Term Non-Continuing Assignment (STNC)

Under the direction of the Dean of Instruction and/or Department Manager, assist in the coordination of the MESA STEM exhibit at the NOYO Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops, maintains, and organizes STEM exhibit of specimens including (but not limited to): sea stars, birds, sea horses, invertebrates, etc.
Assists in the coordination, transfer, and display of STEM exhibit
Tracks and records exhibit specimens

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associates of Arts/Science degree

QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of MESA and STEM processes, display techniques and methods, tracking and recording methods, and biological specimens; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy

Ability to Learn, interpret, and apply intent of display for public engagement

WORKING CONDITIONS
Office and public environment; subject to interruptions and distractions; drives to public display area. Physical demands include sitting, standing, reaching, bending, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 35 lbs). May require use of ladders. Personal protective equipment (such as gloves and/or eye protection) is required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
This is a Short-Term Non-Continuing (STNC), temporary, hourly position, 10-20 hours per week (max of 40 hours for the month) , $15.65 per hour. The only benefits associated with this job are workers compensation, social security, and Medicare. Ed Code 88003 authorizes a governing board to hire STNC employees for less than 75% of a school year, up to 180 days.
