Job Summary
The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Michigan invites applications for the position of Lecturer I beginning September 1, 2019. The successful candidate will teach Urdu language classes. Appointment level will vary depending on final enrollments but we anticipate that this will be a 40% appointment. This is not a tenure-track appointment.

Required Qualifications*
Applicants should have a Master's degree in a relevant field such as the following: language pedagogy (in Urdu language preferred), second language acquisition, or linguistics. Native or near-native proficiency in Urdu and English is required.

Desired Qualifications*
At least two years of experience teaching Urdu at the college/university level is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who have solid Urdu linguistic knowledge and are familiar with contemporary second language teaching methodologies, instructional technologies and curriculum development.

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
