About the Position:

University Extended Education collaborates with University departments and colleges on unique programs for students from the community and around the world. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as an Instructional Designer (Information Technology Consultant-Career). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the direction of the Director, Business Development, the Instructional Designer is responsible for building online courses, degree and certificate programs for University Extended Education/International Programs and Global Engagement (UEE/IPGE). The Instructional Designer will consult and collaborate with subject matter experts and faculty and will partner with the program development team in the development of instructional materials, assessments, and digital productions following research based best practices. Designs and develops teaching, learning, and assessment resources in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation technologies. Explores and makes recommendations for educational software for use by faculty and others. Monitors technology trends and the latest research on online hybrid teaching and learning. Oversees work and acts as a lead to student assistant(s). Consults with UEE/IPGE staff and faculty on optimal design of curriculum and instruction and effective uses of digital media. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Information Design, Instructional Design, Multimedia Education, Educational Technology or a related field plus two years of relevant full-time experience or the equivalent part-time experience. Functional knowledge of the specialty area demonstrated by an understanding and use of advanced principles and theories.

Ability to integrate work related knowledge to address problems. Demonstrated competency in applying standard and non-standard technology applications and exploring and adapting changing technology. Experience in accessible technology design, both direct access and indirect access. Knowledge of instructional design models (ADDIE and SAM), instructional design strategies and technology skills are current. Ability to independently apply technical judgment, recognize problems, use reasoning and logic to establish possible causes, interpret and apply theories and principles, generate alternative solutions, and implement a plan of action for the best resolution. Ability to develop solutions where precedents do not always exist. Ability to be proactive, anticipate outcomes and consequences of different approaches and make modifications to action plans. Demonstrated competence interpreting and communicating information. Demonstrated reflective listening skills when working with others. Ability to assist others in completing assignments and provides work direction and training to others on new skills and procedures. Ability to plan and work on shared projects.
