Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: August 2018

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for serving as Head Coach of the intercollegiate Men's Golf program and assisting with the daily operations at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course at Western Illinois University.
The Men's Golf Head Coach is responsible for all aspects related to the operation of a successful NCAA Division I sport program, including: conducting practices and competitions; student-athlete instruction and development; supervising pre-season and conditioning programs; recruitment and communication with prospective student-athletes; administration of operating budget; staff supervision; fundraising; and promoting and maintaining positive public relations. Incumbent must display professional integrity and be committed to the academic success of student-athletes and their personal growth and social development, and all NCAA, Summit League, and Western Illinois University Athletics Department policies and procedures. Approximately 50% of job duties are assigned to this function.
The Assistant Director of Golf includes program director and promoting for youth and other groups. Work involves supervising student employees; promoting the golf course; and providing golf instruction. The position works under the supervision of the Director of Athletics and the Director of Golf Operations. Approximately 50% of job duties are assigned to this function.

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree. Experience coaching golf at the intercollegiate level. A professional level of knowledge of the USGA Rules of Golf, USGA Handicap System, golf etiquette and golf equipment. Business skills to manage the self-supporting nature of the golf course. Knowledge of basic accounting and budget maintenance principles. Knowledge of basic computer software, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: PGA Certification. Progressive experience coaching golf at the NCAA intercollegiate level. Proven record of successful recruitment of college-level academically and athletically prepared student-athletes. Experience managing the diverse responsibilities attendant to an intercollegiate golf program, including effective budget management, travel planning, and scheduling.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,332): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL (population 44,000). The Quad Cities (population 376,000) rests on the banks of the Mississippi River and is comprised of Moline and Rock Island in western Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa. Moline, Illinois is home to the Quad Cities International Airport.
