Grounds & Nursery Specialist 1

Job Summary/Basic Function:
Respond to trouble calls pertaining to grounds related matters.

Perform assigned/requested tasks in a timely and professional manner.

Maintain positive working relationships and coordinate projects effectively with co-workers.

Able to communicate effectively in writing, verbally and using various technology (cell phone, text, email, etc).

Entry level computer skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Physical ability to do the required work, including but not limited to, the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, stand, walk, stoop, squat, kneel, climb, reach, grasp, push and pull.
- At least one year of paid experience or training involving grounds maintenance, plant care, cultivation and landscape installation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, equipment and safety precautions of the grounds maintenance trade.
- Possession of or the ability to obtain within 6 months, a Washington State permit to apply pesticides.
- Possession of a valid drivers license.

Work Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Typical work hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm at work locations both on and outside of the main EvCC campus. During summer quarter, schedule is typically Monday through Thursday 6:30 am to 5:00 pm.
