This is a full-time, non-exempt, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year position. Regular hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., some flexibility required. Madison College offers a generous benefit program including health and dental benefits. The employee selected will serve a twelve (12) month introductory period. This position does not offer a relocation package.

Organizational Function and Responsibilities:

This position is the designated point of contact for prospective and current students to provide financial support advising and coordinated resources for college-wide and community based programs and services. The position involves connecting under-resourced students with internal and external process support to meet their financial challenges while enrolled in college.

Additionally, the position develops strategies for the expansion of student-facing support to reduce financial barriers and support retention and persistence goals of the college and Student Financial Support Services through proactive and informative case management for financial aid and non-financial aid students.

This position reports to and receives direction from Student Financial Support Services leadership.

Essential Duties:
  • Financial Process Advising - Advises current and newly admitted program students to identify and translate complex financial aid processes, eligibility requirements, and support needs, manages and supports students through the financial aid life cycle, serves as an student advocate with federal, state, and third-party agencies for process or document resolution, connects non-financial aid students to college and external resources to meet financial need outreach Advising - Conducts outreach services to prospective and current students at the college regarding financial aid eligibility and processes, serves as a dedicated partner in connecting students to financial literacy resources and tools available by the college and strongly encouraging program enrollment, provides proactive and intrusive case management outreach to students with financial barriers such as outstanding balances and unresolved eligibility concerns, record keeping and reporting, and serves as a liaison between college departments to ensure all academic requirements are met for successful matriculation processes.
  • Financial Aid Processing and Program Administration - File review and verification, maintains 100% verification file review compliance and has working knowledge of federal tax filing requirements, identifies various federal and knows which documents are appropriate for eligibility, advocates for or performs awarding process after file review is complete in certain situations
  • Manages the successful delivery Title IV administrative programs to students by complying with federal and state regulations - serves as a content expert for financial aid related purposes, works with other college units to ensure guidelines are met, participates in college-wide student support services, campus events, and other related initiatives.
  • Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision and values. Comply with college policies, directives, and work rules. Engages positively with colleagues, handles conflict directly and professionally, contributes to team discussions, collaborates and helps colleagues, assumes the best from colleagues, provides and accepts constructive feedback, follows through on commitments, and supports final decisions that are made.
  • Other duties as defined by department, college, or officials.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
  • Knowledge and application of financial aid regulations, procedures, methods and terminology on a federal and state level.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Ability to respond promptly and thoroughly to requests from students, staff, faculty, administrators and community members.
  • Working knowledge of financial aid and college databases and websites such as PeopleSoft, CRM, NSLDS, COD, ScholarNet, CPS Online, FAFSA, FSAID, and Student Aid.
  • Knowledge of college processes and procedures in admissions, financial aid, registration, and records, as well as curriculum offerings, program and degree requirements, certifications, and other pertinent information to deliver program content-based advising.


Qualifications:

1. Associate's degree from an accredited institution in education, human services, social work or related field OR two (2) years (4,000 hours) of directly related work experience.

  • *Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position.

    2. Two (2) years (4,000 hours) of directly related work experience in a post-secondary setting with a minimum of two years' work experience in a financial aid, student services advising or other student affairs role
