Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: Two tenure track Unit A faculty positions (one located on the Macomb campus and one located on the Quad Cities campus) at the assistant professor level with a start date of August 2018.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidates will teach courses in the principal preparation and superintendent preparation programs focusing on 1) vision; 2) curriculum, instruction and assessment; 3) management; 4) relationships; 5) ethical leadership; and 6) advocacy and influence. The candidates will also be responsible for supervising principal interns and superintendent interns. Additionally, the successful candidates will be part of the educational leadership doctoral program (e.g., teaching courses and serving on dissertation committees). Faculty may be expected to teach at multiple sites for the program, including Macomb, the Quad Cities, the University Center of Lake County, or other off-campus locations. There is a possibility for summer employment. Additional job responsibilities include the expectation to conduct research and publish research findings as well as serve on department, college, and university committees.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Educational Leadership or a closely related field. ABD will be considered if degree will be conferred by time of appointment. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience in P-12 as well as 5 years of experience as a P-12 principal, P-12 superintendent, and/or central office administrator. Candidates must have licensure as a principal and/or superintendent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Principal licensure for both Illinois and Iowa. Superintendent licensure for both Illinois and Iowa. Experience as both a principal and a superintendent. College teaching and research experience. Ability to teach graduate-level courses related to school-level and systems-level educational studies. Experience mentoring and supervising leaders and teachers. Strong written and oral communication skills. A research agenda evidenced by plans for publications in peer reviewed journals and professional presentations.
For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).

THE DEPARTMENT: The successful candidates will join the Department of Educational Studies. The Department of Educational Studies is home to 25 faculty members who support approximately 270 graduate and licensure students at the bachelor, master, specialist, and doctoral degree levels. In addition to the department's degree programs, faculty provide course work to numerous other undergraduate and graduate programs across our campuses. Those sites include the main campus at Macomb, our satellite campus in the Quad Cities, the University Center of Lake County, and in cohort groups at off-campus locations around the state. The Educational Leadership program faculty of seven support approximately 210 graduate and licensure students. We continue to grow into a vibrant, diverse community where research is nurtured and curriculum development is expanding. The Educational Studies faculty members are dedicated to the continued development of a high quality and critical learning environment. Macomb is an Amtrak city with twice-daily service to Chicago. Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70 miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,332): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL (population 44,000). The Quad Cities (population 376,000) rests on the banks of the Mississippi River and is comprised of Moline and Rock Island in western Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa. Moline, Illinois is home to the Quad Cities International Airport.
