Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: 11 month, tenure track position beginning August 1, 2018

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Kinesiology Department invites applications for the Director of Masters of Athletic Training Program to develop a new Master of Science in Athletic Training. We are seeking a dynamic leader to direct the program and we invite applications for a full-time, eleven-month, tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with the title of Director of Masters of Athletic Training Program.
The successful candidate will report to the Chair of the Kinesiology Department and be responsible for the development and implementation of a new Master of Science in Athletic Training Program. Main responsibilities of the position will include
(1) development of the new program and its curriculum;
(2) implementation and evaluation of the program;
(3) development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the program;
(4) teaching courses within the program;
(5) completion of accreditation applications and self-study reports and ensuring that the program is aligned with CAATE standards; and
(6) marketing and recruitment of the program.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Terminal degree (PhD, EdD, DAT or equivalent) by the time of appointment in athletic training, exercise science, kinesiology, or related field from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body)
BOC certification as an Athletic Trainer
Illinois Athletic Trainer license or eligible
Administrative experience with working knowledge of CAATE accreditation procedures is essential.
Contemporary expertise in the field of athletic training
Previous clinical practice as an athletic trainer
Scholarship
Previous teaching responsibilities at the post-secondary level

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS Instructor.
Experience as an Athletic Trainer Preceptor and/or Clinical Education Coordinator.
Demonstrate ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
3 years of professional experience in the field of athletic training clinical practice.
3 years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level.
Experience in or potential for securing external funding.
Experience in curriculum design, assessment, and outcomes measurements.
For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).

THE DEPARTMENT: The Kinesiology Department's 20 full time faculty members serve a department of over 300 undergraduate students majoring in three B.S. degree programs of Physical Education, CAATE accredited Athletic Training, or Exercise Science, and approximately 100 graduate students majoring in the M.S. degree programs of Kinesiology or Sport Management. The Department has an array of facilities that support teaching and research related to sport management, athletic training, biomechanics, human performance, and pedagogy. Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70 miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,332): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL (population 44,000). The Quad Cities (population 376,000) rests on the banks of the Mississippi River and is comprised of Moline and Rock Island in western Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa. Moline, Illinois is home to the Quad Cities International Airport.
