About the Position:

The department of Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness leads systematic and integrated efforts to explore the impact of university programs, curricula, services and operations. We foster a campus wide culture of data informed decision-making, continuous improvement, teaching and learning innovations. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as an Associate Director of Institutional Research. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, the Associate Director of Institutional Research works closely with senior administration, relevant campus units, faculty, and staff to 1) provide analytical leadership for campus efforts in planning, decision-making, and institutional effectiveness; 2) provide innovative leadership in data management, analysis and reporting on important university statistics (e.g. student enrollment, faculty demographics, retention and graduation rates), and generate and disseminate standard and ad hoc reports to various campus constituencies, system entities, governmental agencies, and external organizations; 3) support campus enrollment planning efforts by developing and implementing relevant data analysis and prediction models; 4) support the coordination and integration of data across campus; 5) promote evidence-based decision-making and campus culture; 6) provide direction and guidance for the staff in the Office of Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness (OAIE). Other duties as assigned.




Essential Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in education research, social sciences, evaluation, psychometrics, information systems, computer science or other related disciplines, with a specialization in quantitative research methods, statistics or research methodology. Five or more years of experience in institutional research or related functions. Solid background in institutional research conceptualization, design, methodology, data collection and analysis, and communicating research results to support evidence-based decision-making. Proficiency in analyzing large data sets using SPSS or similar statistical software. Ability to write SPSS (or similar statistical software) syntax. Proficiency in utilizing relational databases. Experience in developing and delivering solutions to address complex analytical studies, taking into consideration the overall objectives and campus context. Ability to attend to detail and ensure the accuracy of data and reports. Proven success with project management and/or supervisory experience in a team environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels with sensitivity to confidential situations. Ability to work with multiple and shifting project priorities and under time constraints.
