Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: August, 2018
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Associate Director reports to the Director of Institutional Research and serves in advisory capacity to the Director of the University Budget Office. The Associate Director works closely with the Directors to:
Provide analytical leadership for campus efforts in planning, decision-making, and institutional effectiveness;
Provide innovative leadership in data management, analysis and reporting on important university statistics (e.g. student enrollment, faculty demographics, retention and graduation rates), and generate and disseminate standard and ad hoc reports to various campus constituencies, governmental agencies, and external organizations;
Support campus enrollment planning efforts by developing and implementing relevant data analysis and prediction models;
Support the coordination and integration of data across campus;
Promote evidence-based decision-making and campus culture;
Provide direction and guidance for the staff in the Office of Institutional Research.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a master's degree in business, applied statistics, mathematics, economics, psychology, information technology, computer science, or a closely related field
A minimum of three years' experience as a manager/supervisor of staff and/or prior experience in a higher education setting at the Assistant/Associate Director level.
An aptitude for computer programming.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Solid background in institutional research conceptualization, design, methodology, data collection and analysis, and communicating research results to support evidence-based decision-making.
Experienced programming with competency in relational databases and SQL based query tools (e.g., coding, control structures, look-up tables, sets, arrays, boolean true/false, looping and otherprogrammingstructures).
Experience in a higher education setting in the area of budget, planning, or institutional research.
Ability to use automated spreadsheets and other tools for analysis and reporting.
Ability to develop models for effective forecasting and planning of institutional resources.
Ability to compile and present complex institutional information to individuals and groups.
Demonstrated ability of working independently on complex assignments, collaborating with others, and making judgments about priorities and quality.
Advanced skills in programming languages and SQL database queries.

Macomb is an Amtrak city with twice-daily service to Chicago. Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).
WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,332): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL (population 44,000). The Quad Cities (population 376,000) rests on the banks of the Mississippi River and is comprised of Moline and Rock Island in western Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa. Moline, Illinois is home to the Quad Cities International Airport.
