Position: Assistant Professor of Latinx Rhetoric and Composition

Required Qualifications:
PhD in Rhetoric and Composition; English; Cultural Studies; Literacy Studies; Chicana/o Studies; Latina/o Studies; or related fields
Evidence of or potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate level
Evidence of or potential for academic research, scholarship and creative activities leading to publication and presentation
Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in teaching interdisciplinary introductory and upper-division courses in Chicana/o and Latina/o Rhetoric and Composition
Historical understanding of Latinx communities in the U.S. and experience and knowledge of working with ethnically diverse cultural perspectives
Experience in teaching Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies content courses
Demonstrated excellence in teaching first-year writing
Ability to teach from an intersectional, social justice framework that centers race, ethnicity, and/or migration status
Success in advising and mentoring students outside the classroom
Success in working with student organizations
Demonstrated interest and/or history in mentoring Latinx and other underrepresented students in and out of the classroom through high-impact practices such as service learning, internships, education abroad, or other student development activities
