The Department of Nutrition and Food Science is searching for an Assistant or Associate tenure-track position in Nutrition/Dietetics and Director of the CSU, Chico Dietetic Internship Program (DI) to start August 21, 2019. CSU, Chico is seeking faculty who are competent in their field, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success and working with diverse students.

Minimum Education and Experience:
The minimum requirements for appointment to this position are a masters degree in Nutrition or related field, the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential, and a minimum of three years professional experience post credentialing. Candidates with a masters degree must show evidence of being enrolled in a doctoral program at the start of the academic semester of appointment (August 21, 2019).

Ability to perform research and scholarly activities and seek external funding; develop curriculum, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in a Commission on Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited undergraduate program and other department programs, teach general education courses and participate in department committees.

The successful candidate should be willing to assume a leadership role in managing a departmental program. The successful candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Requirements and Responsibilities for this position:
The Department is seeking a Director for the CSU, Chico DI Program. Release time is associated with this position. The tenure-track position also carries responsibilities in the area of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, scholarship, and service (student advising, other department needs). Teaching assignments are based upon the qualifications of the individual and needs of the department. Normal faculty duties include undergraduate and graduate advising and serving on college and university committees.

The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a condition of employment.

Recruitment Preferences:
Doctoral degree in Nutrition or related field, teaching experience, mentoring experience. Experience as a dietetic internship preceptor or DI Director.

About the University, Hiring Department and Community:
The Department of Nutrition and Food Science in the College of Natural Sciences includes 10 full-time faculty, about 30 graduate students, and approximately 250 undergraduate majors and offers programs leading to a bachelors and masters degree. Its faculty represent a wide range of interests. Department programs are enhanced by laboratories for courses and research in foods, food science, food service, nutrition, and community nutrition. Campus support services, such as a library and technology learning and support, are easily accessible. Benefits:
CSU, Chico offers a number of benefits to its employees (e.g., sick leave, vacation, health insurance). Eligibility for standard CSU benefits is based on an appointment of half-time or more for a period exceeding six months. Employees appointed less than half-time or less than six months are not eligible for standard CSU benefits but do receive prorated sick leave and vacation.

Eligibility for Affordable Care Act (ACA) benefits is based on an appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement period. The ACA guidelines provide for health coverage or FlexCash only. ACA does not provide dental or vision plan coverage.
