Position Information:

The Department of Public Health & Health Services Administration (formerly the Department of Health & Community Services) is searching for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor to start August 21, 2019. California State University, Chico seeks faculty who are competent in their field, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success.

Minimum Education and Experience:
The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a terminal degree in health services administration, health policy or related area such as business administration, law, or public health with an emphasis in health services administration. Any of the following degrees with an emphasis in health services administration: PhD, Doctorate in Health Administration (DHA), Doctorate in Public Administration (DPA), Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), a Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH) or a Juris Doctor (JD). Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than August 21, 2019. The successful candidate should provide evidence of their commitment to or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching with experience and interest in interactive instructional technologies, and have potential for research and grant writing.

Additional Requirements and Responsibilities for this position:
This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of undergraduate teaching. The ideal candidate will be able to teach at least three of the following courses: Management Principles in Health Services; Healthcare Delivery System; Public Health Policy and Systems; Management of Healthcare Organizations; Law, Ethics, and Regulations in Health Services; Health Services Administration Capstone; and Multicultural Health. The Assistant/Associate Professor position also requires scholarship, including dissemination, grants, etc.; and service to the department, college, university, and community. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a condition of employment.

Recruitment Preferences:
Preference will be given to applicants with work experience in health services administration and/or health policy. Collegiality and the ability to collaborate within and across disciplines is highly valued.

Benefits:
CSU, Chico offers a number of benefits to its employees (e.g., sick leave, vacation, health insurance). Eligibility for standard CSU benefits is based on an appointment of half-time or more for a period exceeding six months. Employees appointed less than half-time or less than six months are not eligible for standard CSU benefits but do receive prorated sick leave and vacation.

Eligibility for Affordable Care Act (ACA) benefits is based on an appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement period. The ACA guidelines provide for health coverage or FlexCash only. ACA does not provide dental or vision plan coverage.
