Salary:
Salary Range: $3,813.33 - $3,835.32 per month
Note: This position includes full benefits. This is a full-time, exempt position. Athletic Corporation employees are at-will.
Overview:
Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director Strength & Conditioning, the incumbent will be responsible to assist with the daily operations of the strength and conditioning program for varsity student-athletes; provide proper supervision and instruction on safe equipment usage; conduct fitness evaluations; assist in the design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for a variety of men's and women's athletic teams and individual athletes as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director Strength & Conditioning which includes: supervision and teaching progression, resistance, cardiovascular, speed, explosive/plyometric, flexibility and body control, secondary injury rehabilitation, record keeping and monitoring progress; prepare presentations for clinics and strength camps; design off-season and summer workout booklets utilizing excel and other computer software; assist staff with weekly scheduling of teams and facility use; and act as competent mentor for yearly interns and graduate assistants.
Position Summary:
- Assist with supervision of volunteer assistants
- Assist in the development, implementation and supervision of the year-round strength program for men's and women's intercollegiate sports (as assigned), which includes:
- Supervision and teaching progression
- Resistance
- Cardiovascular
- Speed
- Explosive/plyometric
- Flexibility and body control
- Secondary injury rehabilitation
- Recordkeeping and monitoring progress
- Assist the staff with scheduling of teams for sport
- Specialization in strength development
- Preparation and presentation for clinics and strength camps as required
- Conduct periodic fitness evaluations
- Assure that all activities are operated in compliance with NCAA, Conference and university rules and regulations
- Work effectively with students, faculty, staff, administration and the public
- Other duties as assigned by the Director Strength and Conditioning Coach
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of teaching and implementing Olympic lifts and exercise prescriptions
- Ability to:
- Understand the importance of cleanliness of facility and safety when dealing with blood borne pathogens and skin contact
- Show enthusiasm and a positive attitude on a daily basis
- Effectively communicate with strength staff, administrators and student-athletes
- Ability and willingness to support the diversity and equity commitments of the department
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and project a professional attitude
- A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations
- Open minded and receptive towards new ideas and information
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in physical education, exercise science or related field
- Minimum of one 3 years of experience or equivalent in strength and conditioning of student athletes
- CSCCA or CSCS accredited National Certification as required by NCAA regulations
- Experience and demonstrated ability in the design and implementation of safe and effective strength programs for a variety of sports
Preferred Skills:
- Master's Degree in kinesiology exercise science concentration
- Experience working within a Division I college institution
- Leadership experience and management skills
