Assistant Director of Curriculum Management, Office of Assessment & Accreditation Services

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director of Educational Effectiveness & Assessment to monitor the curriculum management process at the University of San Francisco. The process involves the review and approval of new programs and courses and curriculum revisions by faculty and administrators in all five schools. This person will be responsible for the official list of academic programs offered by the university each semester and provide the information to leadership, faculty, and staff as needed. This person will implement and maintain the web-based curriculum management system, manage the assessment module within this system and create reports that track and map assessment in all five schools. She or he will also manage the state authorization and other compliance issues related to new and continuing academic programs.

Job Responsibilities:

Ensure that the curriculum development process is effective, efficient, and transparent;

Work closely with the staff and faculty in the Provost Office, Registrars Office, Web Services, and all five deans and school curriculum committees to ensure timely review, approval, and documentation of curriculum changes;

Work collaboratively with faculty and staff engaged in curriculum development activities from a variety of units, including the academic, core curriculum, co-curricular, and service units to maintain a steady curriculum development process at USF from conception to implementation;

Develop strategies to improve the curriculum review and approval process and sharing of information about academic programs and work with ITS and the vendor on needed changes to the web-based system;

Disseminate official list of academic programs offered by the university and other reports to key university stakeholders;

Manage the state authorization process for online and hybrid programs;

Monitor academic program compliance with other federal and state regulations;

Act as a key resource in the Office of Assessment and Accreditation Support;

Provide administrative support when needed to the Director of Educational Effectiveness & Assessment and to the Office of Assessment and Accreditation Support;

Assume responsibility for document control of large reports to WSCUC and professional accreditors, including tracking, organizing and uploading numerous appendices to these reports;

Manage group writing projects, where multiple individuals write collaboratively;

Develop workshops and instructional materials (including web-based) for training and support;

Supervise and mentor student assistants;

Perform other assessment related responsibilities as may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

A Masters degree is required in a directly related field (e.g. education, social sciences, higher education leadership);

Demonstrate experience in use of Excel and other spreadsheet programs;

Experience with web-based systems preferred. Data analysis skills preferred;

Exemplary written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate results of program data;

Effective organizational skills? ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals and groups that have differing levels of knowledge and skills and varying roles and responsibilities;

Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assigned duties, and effectively manage processes related to those duties;

An active interest in ongoing professional development in areas of academic program development and is eager to participate in workshops, conferences, and publication opportunities;

Five years of higher education experience in curriculum development, assessment, or other area of educational effectiveness;
