Job Description:
APPOINTMENT:
August 2019

RESPONSIBILITIES: To assist the Director of the Career Development Center in directing and supervising all operations of the center. The primary function of the Assistant Director will be in direct working relationship with students/alumni, in all facets of career planning and preparation. The Assistant Director will serve as the supervisor / trainer for the office Graduate Assistants including their professional development and evaluations. The AD will also instruct the university 390 career preparation class and serve as mentor/trainer for new instructors. The AD will supervise the maintenance and updating of the office social networking sites. The AD assumes the responsibility of supporting the practices, policies, and procedures inherent with the mission of the WIU Career Development Center. The Assistant Director will provide services and insights into the programs of the office and serve as a creative member of the staff. Working with students, faculty, staff, administration, and on-campus groups, the Assistant Director will promote the positive development of services and will facilitate relations with all publics of the University. Support the Director in all decisions and matters concerning the CDC and act as the Director in the absence of the Director. The Assistant Director will report to (and be evaluated by) the Director of the Career Development Center.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree from an accredited institution (College Student Personnel, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or related). A demonstrated level of Career Services experience. A working knowledge of career development, preparation, and job market trends. Teaching at the University/College level. A work history of assisting non-traditional, international, veteran, and alumni students. Computer Literacy (including Social Media platforms and employer registration systems, i.e. NACELink / Symplicity). Excellent communication skills oral, written, interpersonal, public speaking, and analytical. Requires the ability to design and implement career services programs and should have the demonstrated ability to work well with a diverse group of internal and external constituencies. The ability to effectively collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and other departments within the Student Services Division.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: This individual would have 5 years of progressive responsibility in the area of university career services with 2 to 3 years of experience in the area of staff supervision (including GA's), career exploration/guidance, and university instruction.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).

Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70 miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,332): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL (population 44,000). The Quad Cities (population 376,000) rests on the banks of the Mississippi River and is comprised of Moline and Rock Island in western Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa. Moline, Illinois is home to the Quad Cities International Airport.
