Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: July 30th, 2018

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Strategic Recruitment: Working with the Associate Director of Admissions, identify core community colleges and high schools to visit (as assigned), decide best time to schedule appointments and determine number of times to visit based upon current relationships, trends, matrices and other data. Send posters/confirmation letters in advance of all visits. Maximize the travel budget by using the most efficient and effective use of time by scheduling time to meet with transfer coordinators, perform on-site admissions days while there for a regular scheduled table visit (when possible).
* Participate in special student recruitment programs such as: Transfer Articulation Conferences, State University Transfer Days, Discover Western Open House Programs, Welcome Programs, On-site Admissions days and other programs as assigned.
* Respond to invitations and attend college nights/fairs within your territory that fit the territory strategic plan (both IACAC and non-IACAC calendar events). Assist and cover college nights/fairs outside your territory when another counselor has a conflict on an "as needed" basis.
* Maintains and keeps University given electronic calendar current noting visits, fairs, meetings, used time etc.
* Prepare and make presentations on specific topics for targeted audiences as requested by the high school or community college counselors and staff.
* Develop and cultivate positive working relationships with high school counselors and community college advisors/counselors and maintain the WIU file with current recruitment materials. Update and maintain current territory school information.
* Initiate, Organize and Plan focused transfer student group visits to either WIU campuses each year. (i.e. TRiO based students, Phi Theta Kappa Groups, or any other interested transfer student group in WIU).
* Conduct follow-up with prospective students by telephone or social media as an active part of strategic recruitment to encourage selection of a registration date and housing, encourage application for honors and scholarships and notify of missing information. Also, initiate and maintain contact after WIU on campus visits, open house and school visits throughout the recruitment cycle. Advise students regarding IAI policies, articulation and course suggestions at the community college.
* Respond to correspondence by telephone, electronic communication or social media in a timely manner.
* Perform prospective student presentations, meet individually with students for on-campus appointments and assist with on-campus orientation programs.
* Create transfer guides in cooperation with Associate Director of Admissions, additional Transfer Counselor, and the Transfer Processing Center.
* Notify Associate Director of community college interest in any development, update or change of a 2+2 Articulation Agreement.
* Attend informational meetings for important information regarding IAI or the transferology host site for course credit equivalencies when requested by supervisor.
* Assist in maintaining relevant content on the wiu.edu/transfer web page.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum acceptable qualifications for this position include an earned bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution, at least one year of professional experience in a higher education environment, a valid driver's license, strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to work with diverse populations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The preferred qualifications for this position include an earned Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution and working knowledge of transfer students, the transfer process, college admissions or related experience.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).

Additional Information:
THE DEPARTMENT: Your locus of operation will be an office on campus in Macomb, Illinois. Due to this arrangement the University will provide a telephone a voicemail box, a computer, wireless internet connection and access to a printer/copier machine. The office and equipment must be available and operational throughout the duration of your contract and which you will be required to use for communication with the University. Other office equipment and supplies will be supplied as needed. A car will be available for University related travel. This car will be a vehicle from the Transportation Services fleet that will need to be checked out per travel need.

WIU-Macomb, IL (Student Population: 8,109): A traditional, residential four-year campus with select graduate programs, including a doctorate in education, WIU-Macomb is located in the heart of west central Illinois in Macomb (population 20,000). Macomb is an Amtrak city with twice-daily service to Chicago. Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70 miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,332): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL (population 44,000). The Quad Cities (population 376,000) rests on the banks of the Mississippi River and is comprised of Moline and Rock Island in western Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa. Moline, Illinois is home to the Quad Cities International Airport.
