About the Position:

The department of Engineering and Computer Science is committed to educating engineers and computer scientists who will graduate with state-of-the art knowledge in their chosen field and are ready to embark on careers in industry and government, or proceed to acquire advanced degrees in their own or related fields. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Administrative Analyst/Specialist, Human Resources (Administrative Analyst/Specialist-Exempt I) The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Provides high-level administrative support primarily to the Dean, Associate Dean, and other college administrators. Assists with the development and recommendation of new administrative organizational structure, policies and procedures for the College. In collaboration with the College and Human Resources, Diversity, and Inclusion (HRDI) serves as the lead for recruitment, searches, hiring, preparation of contracts, and onboarding. Facilitates and monitors activities related to new faculty and staff searches and recruitments. Also provides lead support for retirement, leaves of absences, separations, timekeeping, and pay processing for faculty, staff, and students employed by the College. Possesses a strong working knowledge of the various Collective Bargaining Agreements.

In coordination with HRDI, Payroll, and Faculty Affairs and Records (FAR), oversees the College position management process, temporary faculty evaluations, and serves as the official keeper of College personnel files. In collaboration with Academic Personnel, reviews and approves temporary faculty contracts, checking for accuracy related to weighted teaching units, pay, and entitlements. Creates student task profiles to track various unit expenses. Coordinates the process between the College, FAR and/or HRDI for faculty Retention, Tenure, and Promotion (RTP) and Post Tenure Review (PTR).

Provides the College Budget Analyst analysis reports related to faculty, staff, and student workers to ensure Human Resource decisions are fiscally responsible. Monitors entitlements and provides analysis. Ensures personnel files are complete and compliant with University requirements. Assists with the professional development of College staff positions. Serves as the College representative at the Human Resources Analyst Quarterly meetings. Serves as the Dean's Office representative on staff searches. Serves as back-up to other positions in the Dean's office. Other duties as assigned.



Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs plus two years of related experience.
Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skilled in research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
