About the Position:
Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion is committed to the mission of meeting the needs of a multi-cultural, diverse campus community. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Assistant Manager, Compensation Services. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the general direction of the Compensation Services Manager, the Assistant Manager for Compensation Services is responsible for administering staff and MPP classification and compensation-related functions by conducting position audits, salary and position analyses. Provides on-going oversight, guidance, leadership, and training for the Cycle Review Program. Advises management on setting appropriate classifications and individual salaries while ensuring compliance with campus-wide regulations, federal and state laws as well as various collective bargaining agreements. Independently exercises considerable latitude in determining and achieving program objectives on a day-to-day basis. Consults with higher-level management to assist in developing, implementing, and recommending guidelines and operational procedures. Responsible for the oversight of documents administration relating to compliance requirements, including but not limited to Conflict of Interest, Mandated Reporter, and MPP Outside Employment filing. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in business administration, human resources, or a related field or 4 years of directly related experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree. Minimum of three years direct experience in Human Resources. Outstanding written and verbal communication, problem-solving, research, and analytical skills. Ability to work with a high volume of work in a timely manner. Ability to take initiative and take ownership of work. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations and their applications. Ability to analyze statistical data and develop recommendations based on data. Ability to utilize computer applications, including HR Information Systems. Ability to solve problems and provide solutions. Ability to refer to and interpret policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements, salary survey benchmarks and survey data, and classification standards. Ability to maintain objective when reviewing compensation actions and providing salary recommendations.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Human Resources classification/compensation experience in higher education, ideally in the CSU System. Hands-on experience working with the CSU Classification Standards and CSU Management Personnel Plan.
