Under general supervision, oversees activities of an art laboratory/studio during open hours; assists instructors in preparing materials and demonstrations for classroom and skills laboratory use, setting up equipment, providing supplies and implementing instructional programs; responds to student questions regarding procedures and requirements; explains and demonstrates the use of cameras, tools and equipment; maintains and replenishes an inventory of materials and supplies; follows procedures for the short-term loan of equipment and tools to students; ensures a clean, safe and orderly laboratory and learning environment; and performs related duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities to:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
An associate degree or completion of a certificate program in an arts area relevant to area of assignment, and at least two years of progressively responsible experience in the relevant arts field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance program.
A current, valid forklift operator certification may be required in certain assignments.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

In certain assignments, employees may be required to differentiate operating equipment sounds, stoop, kneel, bend and crouch.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to distinguish between basic shades and/or colors and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this class, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work; work with constant interruptions; deal with dissatisfied or upset individuals; and interact with District managers, faculty, staff, the public and others encountered in the course of work.

Employees in this class work under typical office or classroom conditions, and the noise level is usually quiet. In certain arts laboratories, employees work near moving mechanical parts, on uneven or slippery surfaces and are exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. Employees may be exposed to loud, prolonged noise. Employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment.
The employee may be required to travel to locations other than assigned work site and to adjust to work schedule changes and requirements to work overtime.

APPLICATION REVIEW AND ASSESSMENTS
The application review process includes an evaluation of training and experience based on given application information and answers to supplemental questionnaire. Only the most qualified applicants, who pass the minimum qualifications review, will be invited to the assessment process.
The assessment process will include a competency assessment (40% weight) and a performance assessment (60% weight). Passing score is 75% out of 100% on each assessment section.

Candidates who attain a passing score on each part of the assessment will be placed in rank order on district wide Open-Competitive List.Using the same process, a separate Promotional List will be established and both Lists will be used concurrently.Unless otherwise indicated, the eligibility list will be used to fill current vacancies for at least one year. The current vacancy is a part-time, 10-month assignment at Reedley College.
